For constipation: Adults (including the elderly) and children over 12 years: Take 1 to 2 tablets at night.

  • Swallow the tablets whole with water. Do not chew or crush the tablets.
  • Do not take milk, antacids, or proton pump inhibitors within one hour before or after taking Bisacodyl 5mg Laxative Tablets 12+ years, as these may interfere with the effectiveness.

If taking Bisacodyl 5mg Laxative Tablets 12+ years for the first time, start with one tablet and increase to two if necessary. Once bowel regularity returns to normal, discontinue use.

Limit treatment to a maximum of 5 days. Consult a doctor if a laxative is required every day, as this may indicate an underlying cause of constipation. Overuse can be harmful.

Do not take more than the recommended dose or use Bisacodyl 5mg Laxative Tablets 12+ years for longer than directed.

  • Taking too many tablets or taking them for too long may lead to fluid and salt imbalance in the body, muscle weakness, and disturbances in blood salts.
  • May cause low levels of potassium in the blood (hypokalaemia), leading to tiredness, dizziness, muscle weakness, and irregular heartbeat.
  • Overuse can cause dehydration, thirst, fainting, headaches, and difficulty passing urine.

What are the side effects of Bisacodyl 5mg Laxative Tablets?

  • Rare (less than 1 in 1000): Severe allergic reactions (swelling of face or throat, difficulty breathing or dizziness), colitis (abdominal pain and diarrhoea), dehydration, skin rash, fainting.
  • Uncommon (less than 1 in 100): Blood in stools, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, discomfort around the back passage, dizziness.
  • Common (less than 1 in 10): Abdominal cramps or pain, diarrhoea, nausea.
